The Broad Museum : Los Angeles, CA

During my trip to Los Angeles, I wanted to go to The Broad Museum, mainly because I was hoping to see Yayoi Kusama's Infinity Mirrored Room. There was a long line when I went and unfortunately wasn't able to see that exhibit! I was still able to enjoy the other exhibits that were on display, and I really enjoyed it! I'd highly recommend you visit when you're in Downtown LA, plus it was free!

Review : Make Up For Ever Step 1 Skin Equalizer Smoothing & Hydrating Primers

I've been wanting to try a new primer after using Dr. Brandt's Pores No More Pore Refiner primer for the longest time. After reading many positive reviews I picked up the Step 1 Smoothing and Hydrating primer by Make Up For Ever! The regular size costs $37, and the travel size costs $17.

The smoothing primer is meant to even out the skin's texture. It has a thick consistency like most smoothing primers have. It is non-oily which is a plus for me. I found that it smoothed out pores pretty well. The downside was that it made my skin a bit dry and flaky in some places.

My skin is both oily and super dry in some places, so I wanted to try out the hydrating primer for those dry spots. The consistency was more watery, like a gel lotion. Didn't feel like a primer, but more like I was putting a light moisturizer on my face. It claims to boost hydration and refresh tired skin. I don't think it did anything to help makeup stay on longer. I found that it worked best when I mixed it with BECCA's Backlight Priming Filter for an extra glow.

Ingredients list: (Left) Smoothing - (Right) Hydrating

Overall, I wasn't too impressed with both primers. I will most likely return them and try something else! Do you reccomend a good primer for combination skin? I'd love to know!

Eat Here : Bottega Louie : Los Angeles, CA

I realized I never wrote about my trip to California last year! In the next several weeks i'll share my experiences at some of the places I visited. This California trip was the first time going as an adult; the last time was probably when I was in middle school. I made a huge list of all the places I wanted to explore! I wasn't able to go to all of them, but I checked off quite a few places. The first place I wanted to try was the highly rated Bottega Louie

Located in downtown Los Angeles, Bottega Louie is a Gourmet Market, Patisserie, Restaurant and Café, with an extensive selection of sweet and savory goods. They are most well known for their perfectly made desserts. As soon as you walk in the doors you are greeted by rows and rows of colorful macarons. There were 18 different flavors and each one was so beautiful! I ordered a box or 12. Each macaron costs $2.50. I also got a few eclairs and little cream filled donuts. Each eclair cost $4.50.

The pastries came in a beautiful box (which I still have to this day), and my favorite pastry was the eclair. It was my first time trying an eclair and it was so creamy on the inside with a flaky dough. For $4.50, its pricey, but i'd definitely get it again.

I've tried macarons from many other bakeries before, so I knew what to expect from a perfect macaron, and they usually cost $2-3, so for $2.50 I thought it was very reasonable. The macarons were nice and chewy with a crisp layer. The fillings were all very decadent.

I was sad that I wasn't able to eat at their restaurant which is also highly reviewed. That is something I will need to try the next time I visit LA! Have you been to Bottega Louie? If so, how did you like it, and what did you order?

Autumn in Seattle

October is coming to an end, and autumn is in full swing! The leaves are as beautiful as ever, and there's a crisp chill in the air. It's been raining heavily in Seattle, so when we get a few hours of sunshine, it's a good day.

I've been pretty busy these past few months focusing on work. For those of you that don't know, I work full time as a UX/UI designer at a tech startup company here in Seattle, and I also do freelance design on the side. I find that time goes by extremely fast when you have a daily routine. I still can't believe that this year is almost over... I wish I could have more spare time to travel and spend time with family. Hopefully I can plan an adventure soon!
