Review : The Ordinary : Azelaic Acid Suspension + Serums + Oils

When DECIEM launched The Ordinary, there was so much buzz. I never even heard of them before but I knew I had to try their products! When I was browsing through their website, I was shocked to see how affordable everything was. Most products were priced under $10 which is such a steal! I was in skincare heaven...

I wanted to start off with several products so I looked for ones that would target my dehydrated, acne-prone skin. I narrowed down my options to five products and incorporated them into my skincare routine for about two weeks. Here are my thoughts so far:

Azelaic Acid Suspension 10% - $7.90 USD - Azelaic acid is produced naturally by yeast that lives on normal skin. It brightens the skin tone while visibly improving the evenness of skin texture and reducing the look of blemishes. I read that this product is good for post inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH). I use this product after I apply my serums and moisturizer. I don't use it all over my face, instead I like to target the areas where I have the most hyperpigmentation which is on my cheeks. So far it has helped reduce the redness of my scars, but not so much the texture just yet.

100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil - $9.80 USD - Rose hip seed oil is rich in linoleic acid and vitamin A. It helps to reduce signs of aging, dryness, and more. I found that this oil helps a lot with my dry skin, and it never feels oily when I put it on. I use this oil as the last step in my skincare routine. It has not caused me to breakout which is a plus! It has a nice nutty scent which I love.

Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% Serum - $5.90 USD - A high-strength vitamin and mineral blemish formula that reduces the appearance of skin blemishes and congestion. The zinc is supposed to help with sebum production as well. I use this in the morning time since I tend to get oily throughout the day. I'm not sure if it really makes a huge difference, but I think this product helped calmed down some blemishes that I had on my chin area thanks to the zinc.

Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 Serum - $6.80 USD - Hyaluronic acid can attract up to 1,000 times its weight in water, so it's very good for those who have dry skin. I use this product at night after cleansing and toning my face. I think my dehydrate skin has been improving little by little, but it may be because I have been using it in combination with the rose hip oil.

Salicylic Acid 2% Solution - $4.90 USD - Salicylic acid is a BHA that helps to exfoliate the skin, which can help to reduce blemishes. I have used this product only a few times and used it as a spot treatment. I found it to be a little drying, so i'm not sure I would re-purchase this product.

You can find more info and ingredients for all the products in the links above.

Overall, my experience with these products by The Ordinary have been great! I am so impressed with the effectiveness considering how affordable everything is. I would highly recommend you give their products a try. I may purchase a few other products on their site and do another review! I've been really wanted to try their serum foundation which has been getting a lot of media attention. Sadly, my shade has been sold out for so long, so i'll just have to wait a bit longer!
